Sundarijal Nepal

Sundarijal Nepal

Escaping from the buzzing city life and delving into nature’s heart is an enchanting experience that each one of us craves. Last month, I embarked on a similar journey, hoping to discover peace and tranquility in the untamed beauty of Sundarijal. Nestled beautifully on the periphery of Kathmandu Valley, home to verdant landscapes and teeming with cultural heritage, Sundarijal indeed is a hidden paradise in the Himalayan country.

Sundarijal: An Overview

Located approximately 15 kilometers northeast of Nepal’s bustling capital, Kathmandu, Sundarijal is a captivating escape into the lap of nature. Despite its close proximity to the city, Sundarijal is delightfully untouched by urban chaos. It’s fascinating how it maintains a perfect blend of nature’s serenity and local cultural richness.

Journey to Sundarijal

The trip started with an invigorating drive from Kathmandu, flanked by verdant landscapes, hilly terrains, and a distant view of the sprawling capital city. The air grew cooler and fresher as we ascended the winding roads, leading towards Sundarijal.

Welcome to Sundarijal

Upon reaching Sundarijal, we were welcomed not only by the cool mountain breeze but also by warm smiles of the local people, setting a perfect start to our adventure. The place was brimming with quintessential Nepalese houses, small vibrant markets reflecting the local lifestyle, and stunning views of the verdant mountainside.

Hiking through the Trails

Sundarijal is a well-known hiking destination popular for its soothing trails that wind through lush forests, lively streams, and picturesque settlements. The melodious bird songs accompanied us while the fragrance of hyacinth in the air enveloped us with a sense of calm.

Rejuvenation at the Waterfalls

No trip to Sundarijal is complete without experiencing the entrancing beauty of its waterfalls. Nestled among thick green forests and roaring down the rocks, the waterfalls are sights to behold. Listening to the harmonious chorus of water cascading down rejuvenated the senses and offered a magical experience.

Cultural Insights

One aspect that sets Sundarijal apart from other tourist destinations is its significant cultural heritage. In every corner, you can see glimpses of Nepali traditions — from intricately carved stone sculptures to ritualistic shrines. I found myself amidst a warm and welcoming community that exudes a simple yet fulfilling lifestyle.

A Delectable Food Experience

In Sundarijal, I was fortunate to savor authentic Nepali cuisine. Eating the delightful varieties of ‘Dal Bhat’ (lentils and rice), ‘Momo’ (dumplings), and ‘Gundruk’ (fermented leafy green) while sitting amongst the locals elevated the entire food experience.

Memories Made

The journey concluded with unforgettable memories encapsulated in countless photographs and the heartwarming hospitality of the local people. Sundarijal is more than just a natural treasure; it’s a cultural heritage site offering rich experiences that stay with you long after you’ve left its borders.

In Sundarijal, there are more stones unturned, more paths unexplored. This hidden paradise beckons adventurers to come, witness, and get enchanted by its unblemished beauty. So, if you’re in Nepal and want to experience a blend of culture, nature, and adventure, Sundarijal is the place to be.
